A technical glitch prevents thousands of users from accessing Facebook and Instagram
Meta Company announced that it faced a technical problem that caused a widespread disruption of its main applications, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
The company confirmed in a statement on the X platform that it is working to fix the problem and return services to normal as soon as possible, apologizing for any inconvenience to users.
Downdetector, a website specialized in monitoring technical malfunctions, recorded:
- 105,000 reports of problems on Facebook
- 70,000 reports of Instagram downtime
- 14,000 reports of problems in Messenger
- 12,500 reports of WhatsApp downtime
This malfunction comes within a series of widespread technical malfunctions in 2024, after the disruption of Microsoft services last November, andCrowdStrike crisis that caused losses exceeding $5 billion.
It is noteworthy that Meta platforms include about 3.98 billion monthly active users around the world.
